Baby Registry details
May 24th, 2009
This is just a short post to let our wonderful friends and family know that our Baby Registry is up and ready to go! This has always been an awkward part of the process for me. I still remember setting up our wedding registry, walking through Bed, Bath & Beyond with that infrared gun, happily shooting away at all the wonderful stuff, but at the back of my mind wondering if it’s really ok to say to people “Hey, look at me! Buy me stuff because I’m special!”
But, oh well, everyone keeps telling me that I should suck it up, have fun, and shamelessly promote the registry, because people actually want to buy you stuff (which I find amazing). So, because I always listen to what my friends tell me to do, Jess and I went out to Babies R Us yesterday and spent 2 hours with that magical infrared gun (see photo).
Jess’s baby shower isn’t until August 8th, but like most nervous first-time parents, we seem to be way ahead of the game. We’re even starting to paint the nursery today (more on that later…). So here are the details…
We are registered at:
- Babies R Us (accessible in-store and online): Click here for Babies R Us online registry
- Amazon.com (online only): Click here for Amazon.com registry
There are also some things that aren’t on the registry that we’d love to have:
- Any clothing that says things like I love dad, Dad is a super hero, I have the best dad in the world, My dad can do anything, etc. I think you get where I’m going with this.
- “I roll with Jesus” onesie, or any of the related items on that page. Love it.
- Gift cards to Babies R Us and Target - from what I understand you live there for the first few weeks.
- Our door is ALWAYS open to hand-me-downs. This is a great time to create some space in your house, don’t you think?
Ok, I’m done asking for stuff. We will now continue with your regularly scheduled programming.

But they have baby showers in South Africa, too, don’t they? Aren’t they called storks showers?
I miss Target. Mr. Price Home just isn’t the same…

Yes we do, but I guess I’m just uncomfortable with the whole thing altogether
BTW, I love the Afrikaans word for baby shower – “ooievaarstee.” Has a great ring to it.
Target – yes, my parents visited us last month, and when my mom saw Target she wanted us to leave her there for the day and pick her up at closing time. It is a great place!

Just ask for diapers, diapers and more diapers. You’ll never have enough. Cheers!

I must say that I’m proud that my blogging skills seem to be shamelessly ripped off yet again in this post (at least the “details” part), really, I’m quite proud! I am also *really* hoping that I’m in an appropriate state of being to be down there for your baby shower on 8/8. Also FYI – if you haven’t been frustrated by it yet the babies-r-us online registry really needs an overhaul and update, it must be like 10 yrs old, you can’t even change your own password. That’s why we’ve ended up putting a lot of stuff on Amazon…happy shopping!

My list would be…
Nintendo Wii
Nintendo DSi
Ernie Ball John Petrucci Musicman guitar
Plasma screen
- start them young!….
Hangon wait…I already have those…
Maybe just a soccer ball / tennis racket or golf club…
You never can start too early!
(you might even get to retire early! Live through your kids is
what I say!)
I’m kidding!
